After twenty years of service to my fellow humans
in the care of their spines and neuromusculoskeletal systems,
a theory once old has become new. By that I mean that in Chiropractic
we have always had the concept of the subluxation. A subluxation,
in chiropractic terminology, is the misalignment of two adjacent
vertebrae blocking the flow of innate energy down the spinal
chord and nerves, producing the pre-requisites for both pain
and impaired health. In Chiropractic, we would answer the question,
“Why do we get sick?” somewhat different than the
typical, “germs make us sick.” We acknowledge the
presence of germs but place more importance on the flow of innate
(God given) or in born energy of the person to keep the body
balanced and thus healthy. The next logical question that comes
to mind is “how does one maintain ones flow of this innate
energy, or for that matter the health of the entire body?”
Here is where the concept of spinal adjusting to balance innate
energetic health comes in. When the vertebrae of the spine are
functioning properly and there is little to no interference
in the transmission of the innate energy coursing between the
brain, spinal chord and spinal nerves thus giving the body has
the best chance of expressing vibrant health. At any given state
of life, whether young or old, an unimpaired spinal energy flow
will increase a persons vitality by reducing back and neck pain,
headache and by increasing the functional internal communication
of the entire system. The result: better health. My
experience has shown this to be true. I have participated
in, and observed health returning to hundreds people. It is
always an exhilarating and fulfilling occurrence.
At
the beginning of this article I stated that a concept old
has become new. Once ancient people started to understand
the life enhancing qualities of energetic balancing, different
systems of health care emerged based upon this understanding.
The Chinese Acupuncture system of balancing meridians corresponding
to the body’s organs and thereby balancing the entire
system is a good example. Another is the Indian Aruvetic system
of balancing the central energetic chakras and thereby balancing
the entire system. These systems of health care are thousands
of years old and are still in use in the two most populous
nations on Earth. The American system of Chiropractic, is
also about energetic balancing, however, it is of balancing
the central nervous system to bring about the full expression
of life force. To this we can add strength and fitness training
and nutritional information and we have a very effective overall
health system. As we begin to embrace the energetic nature
of ourselves and seek these types of health care we have indeed
newly found a very old concept.
